CUPA natural slate

CUPA PIZARRAS natural slate is the perfect product for a roofing solution to The Maltings, a development of 66 luxury homes located in the heart of the historic town of Haddington (UK).

Our CUPA Heavy 3 was specified for this project for its beautiful and rustic appearance.

CUPA natural slate

CUPA 3 is a blue-black slate with a riven surface, which contains non-rusting metallic particles giving it a distinctive natural colour, texture and grain.

The Heavy variant is split to a thickness of 8-10mm and is exceptionally durable and virtually maintenance free.

CUPA Heavy 3 is ideal for the scottish and irish markets to its close similarity to the traditional highland slate from Ballachulish that is no longer produced.

NATURAL SLATE, SENSITIVE TO PLANNING REGULATIONS

Located in the heart of East Lothian, between the Lammermuir Hills and the Firth of Forth, The Maltings is situated within the desirable market town of Haddington and is home to 66 luxury homes within easy commuting distance of Edinburgh. This combination of refurbishment of a B-listed building and new developments within such a  beautiful thriving town demanded building products of not only the highest quality, but that were also sensitive to strict planning regulations.

Designed by Bracewell Stirling Architects to suit both contemporary and traditional lifestyles, it was essential that a versatile roofing product was specified that was sensitive to these issues. CUPA Heavy 3’s premium credentials, its unparalleled quality and its likeness to Scotland’s indigenous Ballachulish slate placed it as the perfect material for a roofing solution for this development.

With CUPA Heavy 3’s 100 year guarantee there is not only peace of mind for the developer, in this case, Scotia Homes but also its customers. The end result delivers a quality look that completes these premium homes.
