Readyslate makes its mark on New Zealand architecture
Readyslate continues to gain ground in New Zealand with the support of our local distributor, The Building Agency. A great example is Slatebridge, a contemporary home in Hamilton where natural slate complements the architecture and its semi-rural surroundings.
Designed by Nine Thirty Architecture, the home was originally planned with a metal roof. However, the architects saw an opportunity to incorporate Readyslate into the design. Working closely with The Building Agency and the homeowners, they ultimately chose natural slate for its distinctive character and architectural appeal.
Throughout the specification process, The Building Agency played a key role, providing technical guidance, warranty information and support with supply and installation quotations to help bring the architects’ vision to life.
As Andrew Hill of The Building Agency explains, the support of an established producer is essential:
It gives architects, builders, installers and homeowners confidence in both the Readyslate system and The Building Agency as the distributor.
Readyslate finds its place in New Zealand
Beyond this particular project, Andrew also highlights the growing interest in natural materials among architects and homeowners in New Zealand:
Architects and homeowners are really looking for materials that are authentic, durable, and will stand the test of time.
Combining natural slate with a modular roofing system, Readyslate offers a practical solution for contemporary residential projects. Its lightweight panels simplify installation while preserving the distinctive appearance and character of natural slate, making it a versatile option for a wide range of architectural designs.
Built by J.A Bell Building, with the Readyslate roof installed by Bay Pacific Roofing, Slatebridge is a great example of how architects, builders and specialist installers can work together to bring natural slate into contemporary residential architecture.
