The French Institute CSTB has just certified that our rainscreen cladding system CUPACLAD® 101 has successfully overcome the impact and wind tests.

The CSTB (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment) is a French public authority in the service of innovation in construction industry ensuring the buildings quality and safety in France.

In order to validate and certify the stability of our ventilated facade system, CUPACLAD® 101 has been subjected to several impact and wind tests to assess its technical properties and behavior.

Here are the results:

RESISTANCE TO IMPACT TEST

During the impact test our cladding system was hit by different bodies, thereby applying diverse strengths, in order to determine the different rating defined in regulations:

  • Hard body impact test: two steel balls of 0.5 kg and 1 kg are used.
  • Soft body impact test: a 3kg spherical ball filled with sand and lead and a 50 kg bag of sand are used.

This procedure evaluates how our rainscreen cladding system CUPACLAD®101 deals with each of the different impacts.

After the tests, CUPACLAD® 101 has obtained the best possible rating granted by the CSTB (Q4).

According to this, our ventilated façade system is suitable for installation in areas with greater exposure to potential impacts: ground floors and pedestrian access areas.

RESISTANCE TO WIND TEST

This test measures the resistance to wind actions. In order to carry it out, our system was installed on a test bench to simulate the pressure and suction exerted by the wind on the facade.

Once the test was performed, our rainscreen cladding systems CUPACLAD® 101 bore a wind suction up to 6000 Pascals, equivalent to winds of about 360km/h.
