Carbon neutrality
Carbon neutrality means having a perfect balance between emitting carbon and removing it from the atmosphere. This can be done through different channels such as emission reduction , carbon sequestration and offsetting.
Carbon neutrality is one of the main actions to tackle climate change, that is why the European Union aims to attain net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

As the world leader in natural slate, CUPA PIZARRAS wants to be at the forefront of combatting this issue. According to the Carbon Trust we are already a carbon neutral company: as we have achieved carbon neutrality for our own operations.
This achievement highlights our comprehensive effort in sustainability, but we are not satisfied. We have committed to reduce the total carbon footprint of our activities by an additional 5% over the next two years.
Carbon Footprint
After a thorough process of measuring and assessing our greenhouse gas emissions in 2019, we created a plan with Carbon Footrpint Ltd to offset this and become the first slate production company to be carbon neutral.
Offsetting is the action of neutralizing the amount of C02 emissions. It closes the circle and allows us to become a carbon neutral company. To this end, we fund two different projects.
