Carbon neutrality

Carbon neutrality means having a perfect balance between emitting carbon and removing it from the atmosphere. This can be done through different channels such as emission reduction , carbon sequestration and offsetting.

Carbon neutrality is one of the main actions to tackle climate change, that is why the European Union aims to attain net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Reductions of Emissions

As the world leader in natural slate, CUPA PIZARRAS wants to be at the forefront of combatting this issue. As such, we were the first company in the industry to certify our carbon neutrality and we have already achieved the first milestones in our emissions reduction process.

Despite the achievements, our sustainability commitment does not end here. We have committed to reduce our carbon emissions an additional 1.5% during the 2022-2025.

Carbon Footprint

After a thorough process of measuring and assessing our greenhouse gas emissions, we created a plan with Carbon Footrpint Ltd to offset our emissions. Offsetting is the actions of neutralizing the amount of C0₂ emissions.

To close the circle, allowing us to become a carbon neutral company, we have fund different projects:

Protecting the Amazon

Reducing deforestation and preserving Amazon’s biodiversity which contains 10% of all species in the world, through a REDD project.

UK Tree Planting

During the period 2019-2022 we funded a program to plant a tree in the UK for every ton of C0₂ emitted by CUPA PIZARRAS.
