Set within the rural landscape of Rosebury Farm in the UK, this development brings together three contemporary homes that combine clean geometries with a material palette centred around natural slate.
While following a common architectural language, each of the three homes was carefully designed to retain its own identity. Variations in form and detailing create subtle distinctions, while the upper volumes help unify the development as a whole.
This approach was shaped by Squared Architects, who sought to balance contemporary design with a strong connection to local character. Central to this vision was the use of natural slate façades, combined with modern, minimal geometries.
As Simone Demurtas, Director of Squared Architects, explains: “This was our first project using CUPACLAD, and we found it to be significantly better than the other options available, as it offers a beautiful, almost metallic finish that creates a stunning effect in the daylight.”
Alongside its visual qualities, the choice of materials was guided by a commitment to sustainability. Natural slate provided a low-impact solution that aligned with the architect’s environmental ambitions while meeting the project’s aesthetic requirements.
For the project’s developer, Roof Brothers, the specification of CUPACLAD 101 Logic was a natural decision. With extensive experience using the system across previous projects, its performance and reliability were already well established.

The horizontal CUPACLAD profiles fix directly onto the timber subframe, allowing the façade to be built quickly and accurately. Pre-holed slates and dedicated screws ensure clean, consistent fixing, saving time on site.”
The system also proved highly adaptable. Large window openings were accommodated with ease, with slates precisely trimmed where required and details integrating cleanly for a cohesive finish.
