CUPACLAD Achieves TDI Approval for Use in Texas, Confirming Its Proven Performance
CUPACLAD has received approval from the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), confirming the system’s compliance with applicable performance and windstorm requirements for Texas construction projects when installed as a rainscreen façade over steel studs.
In climates such as Texas, where high temperatures, intense solar exposure, wind-driven rain, and sudden weather changes are common, façade performance plays a critical role in building durability.
Rainscreen cladding systems are designed to manage moisture, allow ventilation behind the façade, and reduce thermal stress on the building envelope, contributing to long-term performance and resilience.
This approval removes technical barriers for projects in Texas that follow this construction approach. For rainscreen façades designed with light-gauge steel framing, CUPACLAD can now be specified and installed in accordance with the approved configuration, allowing projects to move forward without additional TDI-related requirements.
The current approval applies to the four standard systems: 101 Logic, 101 Parallel, 101 Random and 201 Vanguard.
The approval does not automatically extend to other types of support, such as wood framing or alternative substrates. Projects that require a different construction approach must be reviewed in advance with our technical team.
